Serve at Church

There are a variety of volunteer roles that keep our church running and vibrant.  We are so grateful for the individuals who have stepped up to take on these ministries; we could not have the wonderful parishes that we do without their gift of time and talent.  If you are interested in volunteering for any of these, please contact any staff member or call either parish office.

Parish Office Assistance

These committed volunteers help with routine office tasks such as, copying, collating, assembling, filing, and telephone coverage.  Our volunteers are essential in keeping the office open during our scheduled hours.

Social Events and Hospitality

Both churches have social events and receptions, and volunteers are the ones that make them happen!  Whether it is assisting in planning, hosting and cleaning up after events like Christmas Concerts or Pot Luck suppers, we need you!   Keep your eye on the bulletin and weekly email; this is where we ask for assistance for specific events.

Merry Marthas and Muscles/Church Cleaners

Our churches are kept beautiful by the hard work and effort of our cleaning ministry.  Volunteers are needed to help with housekeeping duties to maintain the beautiful appearance of our church. At Transfiguration, the commitment, depending on the number of volunteers, is 1 ½ - 2 hours every 4-6 weeks on a Monday morning.  At St. Catherine, there is a crew that comes in three times a year on a Saturday - before Easter, mid-Summer, and Thanksgiving/Christmas.  It’s an important ministry within the parish, a great way to meet other parishioners and has its own personal rewards.  Please consider donating a few hours a month.  To volunteer at Transfiguration, call the office.  At St. Catherine, contact Jim and Jan Cleveland at jcleavela@rochester.rr.com.

Altar Linens

The sparkling white altar linens are the work of a small set of dedicated volunteers, working on a rotating weekly schedule.  Once a week, they pick up the linens used in the masses, clean and press them, and return them to the church.

Funeral Baking Ministry

Please consider assisting with our funeral receptions by offering baked goods. Cookies, cakes, brownies and various sweet breads are a welcomed and wonderful way to reach out to others when you may not be able to assist directly with the funeral reception.

Funeral Reception Committee (Transfiguration) /Martha's Table (St. Catherine)

It is in the kind, helpful hands of others that bring comfort to grieving families during a difficult time. It is a priceless gift of hospitality from our community as we extend the hands of Christ to others. Offer your helping hands and comfort to families during their loved one's reception. Responsibilities would include assisting the coordinator and other ministers with set-up, serving and clean-up.  Charlene Merrill coordinates this at St. Catherine (charmerrill12@gmail.com) and Margie Benza (Margie's email) at Transfiguration.

Green Thumb Ministry

If you enjoy caring for plants, we would appreciate your assistance in keeping our parish plants well watered and cared for periodically.  Please contact the parish office to join the crew!

Liturgical Arts/Environment Ministry

Volunteer your time enhancing our worship space for the liturgical season.  We could use your time and talent in bringing the different liturgical seasons to life with simple but beautiful decorating of our sacred spaces.  This is a creative and fun ministry, and a great one for families as well.

Collection Counters

Volunteers are needed to count the funds collected at the weekend Masses. Counters are scheduled according to their availability. They typically count once a month in groups of three.   Contact Dan Hofford (Dan's email) if you are interested in joining this ministry.

Gardeners and Outdoor Maintenance

We have lovely grounds at both parishes, which require upkeep and watering during the growing season and snow/ice removal during the winter.  Our Buildings and Grounds managers would appreciate a list of people they can call when work needs to be done.  If this is an area where you can help, please consider adding your name to the list!  Contact Bob Goldbach (Bob's email) at St. Catherine or Ben Cutter (Ben's email) at Transfiguration.
